80’s Rock

We lived in extra tight, acid-washed jeans
My hirsute chest for the screaming teens
With that fire alight, you can feed the senses
My bulge in your sight when I wear tight spandex

My bag is packed with hairspray and gel
But my visa got banned on my ticket to hell
The money, the fame, the girls to repel
Drugs were to blame when we trashed the hotel

80’s rock – hold on to the dream
80’s rock – my hair is so clean
80’s rock – never gonna die
80’s rock & roll

We didn’t wear ties and didn’t wear suits
Put on my leather jacket, headband and studded boots
Tease my hair and put on some eye liner
End up in the news for grooming a minor

Now the kids don’t know our songs by heart
The world moved on, and we fell apart
All the kids with their ripped-up jeans
They don’t know the cost of the rock ‘n’ roll dream

80’s rock – hold on to the dream
80’s rock – my hair is so clean
80’s rock – never gonna die
80’s rock & roll

With hairspray clouds and a power grip
Leather and lace, and eyeliner thick
Amps so loud and drug fuelled regrets
Broken hearts, broken strings, cold sweats

The world was a stage, but then the crowds went thin
The make-up cracked and the nineties kicked in
The lights faded, the music was old
A new era dawned, and grunge took hold

80’s rock – hold on to the dream
80’s rock – my hair is so clean
80’s rock – never gonna die
80’s rock – it died in ‘89

80’s rock, it’s never gonna die
80’s rock, it died in ‘89
